We were delighted as a group to welcome Chief Superintendent Christopher Mangan to our steering group meeting on January 9th 2018. He began by congratulating disABILITY Louth on its achievements to date. The Superintendent assured the group that An Garda Síochána took a great interest in the groups goals and objectives.

Chief Superintendent Mangan confirmed the commitment of the Gardaí to alleviate traffic and parking problems in County Louth. He explained that this area is a priority and on the curriculum for student Gardaí. He advised disability permit holders to telephone local Gardai and report individuals parking illegally in disabled parking spaces and any illegal parking that prevents a person with disability accessing a route. He assured us that any report made would be dealt with seriously.

The Gardaí will play an active role in organising and running Fleadh Ceol na hEireann in August 2018. Chief Superintendent asked if Disability Louth would send a representative from the group to advise on people with disabilities accessing the event. The group agreed that a representative would become involved.

DisABILITY Louth would like to offer a sincere thank you to Chief Superintendent Mangan for attending our meeting and extend our gratitude to the members of An Garda Síochána who work on our behalf.
